What is the estimated cost of IVF?

I know it will vary from area to area but I am just wanting to get an idea. I know my insurance doesn't cover fertility treatment. We are not sure we will even need to go that route. I am just getting an idea of our options. So if you have had the treatment can you please tell me what state you live in and approximently how much it cost you.

Also does anyone know if Tricare (active military insurance) covers fertility treatments because my husband is in the process of joining the Army.

I just went through IVF. I was lucky and my ins. has covered most of it (IL has a mandate). The meds alone (for ovulation repression and follicle stim.) cost about $3000 by itself (my ins. did not cover this part). Then testing and monitoring (3 days a week for two or more weeks) cost about (I JUST looked at the statements to answer this) $5500 before insurance discounts and payments. I have not received the statements for the egg retrieval or embryo transfer yet. So that is more than $8000 before the real big stuff. I know it's only partial info, but I hope it helps. I hope all goes well with you. It's a scary, bumpy road to travel, but it's totally worth it in the end.
